Underwriting Support Clerk (12 month contract / secondment)

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

We’re looking for an Underwriting Support Clerk to join our growing team!

What you'll do here :

Manage the incoming requests from our brokers and distribute work to the underwriting team according to different levels of seniority and assigned roles.

Allocate work and correspondence to the underwriting team daily.

Identify, search, log and distribute applications.

Assemble and prepare output for mailing with the same day turnaround time.

May order various underwriting reports from the computer system.

Assist the management team with any required tasks.

Identify problems and relevant issues, seek to resolve problems and improve work processes and share back with the team / management.

Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously.

Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.

Other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table :

Previous insurance experience is an asset

Understanding of the underwriting principles and practices

Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision

Can work independently

Initiative and ability to work under pressure

Keyboarding skills and knowledge of computers required

Experience with Windows-based software programs and underwriting systems preferred

Must be able to develop some proficiency in the use and knowledge of all computer systems related to their function

Excellent communication skills

Team player

No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
