Duties

Provide person-centered support promoting self-determination for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness.

Ensure safety, dignity, and compliance with legislation, policies, and standards of practice.

Implement evidence-based behavioral plans and adapt strategies for learning, life skills, and vocational training.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and social networks to achieve person-directed goals.

Communicate effectively through written, oral, and electronic formats; document incidents and progress accurately.

Respond to crises and emergencies, conducting safety checks and reporting per policy.

Support health and wellness within role limits, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles.

Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient / client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.

Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royals Anti-Racism, Harassment and Discrimination Free Policy.

Qualifications

Minimum of OSSD and Developmental Service Worker diploma.

Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital or community setting with persons with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities and mental illness.

CPI / TCI, Mental Health First Aid and Quality Assurance Measures training preferred.

CPR certification or recertification within the last 12 months.

Access to a reliable vehicle and valid G driver’s license for day-to-day operations.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression / comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range : 32.65 to 33.92 per hour
