Do you have a passion for event planning, organization, and community engagement? Squamish Nation’s Ayás Mén̓men Child and Family Services Department is looking for an Events & Administrative Officer to support the planning and coordination of department workshops, presentations, and special events that serve our community. This role plays a key part in promoting the well-being of children, youth, and families through culturally grounded, meaningful activities.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the main point of contact for all Ayás Mén̓men departmental events, workshops, and presentations.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate a wide variety of in-person and virtual events, ensuring they reflect Squamish Nation values, traditions, and protocols.
- Produce departmental newsletters, promotional materials, and event documents using intermediate to advanced desktop publishing skills.
- Liaise with internal teams, external vendors, facilitators, community members, and leadership to ensure seamless event operations.
- Manage event logistics including scheduling, bookings, venues, supplies, and catering.
- Research, draft, and edit communications materials related to events and departmental activities.
- Ensure all department events align with Squamish Nation policies, guidelines, and protocols.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and databases related to events and departmental activities.
- Support the Administrative Manager with various administrative tasks to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
- Provide responsive support to the department, including answering inquiries and coordinating follow-ups.
- Represent Ayás Mén̓men with professionalism, respect, and cultural integrity at all times.
What We’re Looking For
A combination of education and experience or equivalent training in event planning, administration, communications, or a related field.Demonstrated experience in event planning, coordination, and / or office administration, preferably in a community or social services setting.Intermediate to advanced skills in desktop publishing and office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, etc.).Excellent organization and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.Cultural awareness and deep respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw values, language, and traditions.Professional communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and diplomacy.Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Salary : $47,000 - $66,000
Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. Weare committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
