Salary : Summary

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of 43 Housings legacy buildings. This position supports the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents by performing routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and exterior upkeep across multiple properties. This role requires travel between sites; therefore, access to a reliable vehicle is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs regular cleaning and disinfecting of common areas including lobbies, hallways, laundry rooms, offices, stairwells, windows, floors, and washrooms using appropriate equipment and materials.
• Cleans vacant suites as needed throughout the month to prepare for new tenants.
• Dust, vacuums, mops, polishes, and maintain floors, carpets, and windows.
• Keeps exterior building areas, sidewalks, and entrances clean and free of litter, debris, and hazards.
• Assists with basic seasonal tasks such as sweeping, watering plants, or light gardening.
• Performs light maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, plunging sinks and toilets, tightening fixtures, and reporting maintenance issues promptly to the Housing Supervisor.
• Monitors and reports any damage, safety hazards, or unusual activity at the sites.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and materials for all assigned buildings.
• Tracks supply usage, places orders as required and ensure proper storage and labeling of cleaning products.
• Follows safety protocols and uses cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with WHMIS standards.
• Ensure doors and windows are secured and alarms set when buildings are vacated.
• Works respectfully in residential environments, maintaining professionalism and discretion.

Hours : 25 hours per week. Monday to Friday
