Vacancy Status: This job posting is for an existing vacancy. This is a 6-month contract starting as soon as possible.

What do you offer

The Landlord Relations Liaison will work directly with program residents to assess how their needs can best be met in the private rental market provide one-on-one support in housing searches and guide them through the rental application and move-in processes. A key part of the role involves cultivating and maintaining partnerships with landlords property managers and housing providers to expand rental opportunities and improve housing access for newcomers.

Through advocacy private housing market navigation and collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders the Landlord Relations Liaison ensures that each resident receives the support they need to secure safe affordable and appropriate housing.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Supporting newcomers in developing individualized housing plans and transitioning into market housing.
  • Conducting housing readiness assessments and provide housing search assistance including application support and tenant education.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with landlords property managers and housing providers to create ongoing rental opportunities.
  • Acting as a liaison between residents and landlords to facilitate smooth housing placements and resolve any initial concerns.
  • Tracking housing placement outcomes and preparing regular reports to evaluate program impact.
  • Staying informed on local housing trends tenant rights and community resources relevant to newcomer populations.
  • Supporting clients with basic budgeting and understanding rental agreements and tenant responsibilities.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work human services community development communications public relations or a related discipline

Language

  • Fluent in English oral and written
  • Other languages are an asset

Experience Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of housing systems tenant rights and local rental markets
  • Experience supporting newcomers refugees or individuals at risk of homelessness
  • Demonstrated knowledge of settlement services housing subsidies and community support systems
  • Experience in landlord engagement housing navigation or case management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with client data tracking systems or CRM tools
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple housing files track outcomes and maintain accurate documentation
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and client-centered approaches

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check not more than 6 months old is Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Annually staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
