General Accountant

Our client, an established retail company located in Kitchener has an opening for a General Accountant to join their team! The General Accountant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including assisting with month-end, intercompany transactions, journal entries, bank reconciliations, processing payroll, and more. This position presents an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to learn and grow within an established organization that owns multiple entities in various industries. They offer a hybrid work model of 2-3 days in office.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the month-end and year-end processes.
• Prepare invoices and process payments for two business entities.
• Handle intercompany transactions.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
• Act as back up for AR and AP.
• Processing biweekly payroll including calculating stat pay.
• Assist with process improvement and software upgrades.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.

Requirements:

• Must have an education in accounting.
• 2+ years of general accounting experience and working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
• Experience processing payroll required
• Strong Excel skills (V-LOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, IF statements)
• Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn.
• Experience with process improvement and software upgrade implementation would be an asset.
