Location & Compensation
- Location: Kelowna, BC
- Salary: $63,000 – $80,000
Candidate Profile
RJC seeks self‑motivated problem solvers building better buildings for the communities we serve. Specializing in building enclosure engineering, structural engineering, structural restoration, structural glass engineering, and building energy modelling, we are one of Canada’s leading engineering firms.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with internal Building Enclosure Project Engineers to create envelope solutions that reduce carbon and maximize energy efficiency, meeting sustainability standards such as BC Step Code, Zero Carbon Building, Passive House, LEED, etc.
- Build technical skills and business understanding while working across the project life cycle, from conceptual and preliminary stages through completion.
- Collaborate with architects and other consultants on design reviews for new construction, developing building enclosure details aligned with industry best practice.
- Conduct site assessments, evaluate existing buildings, and prepare reports and studies.
- Develop drawings and specifications for new and existing buildings.
- Participate in client requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic project costing.
- Perform Building Envelope Thermal Bridging calculations to support effective assembly RSI values.
- Follow quality control procedures established by the practice.
- Assist with construction administration and review on active construction sites.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Education – Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (preferably with completed courses in Building Science).
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training with EGBC.
- Experience – 0 to 3 years in building enclosure engineering, engineering or construction, preferably in a consulting firm environment.
