We are looking for a Payroll Analyst , for a 14-Month Contract - Parental Leave Coverage, to join our Waterloo office in Ontario .
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Professional with advanced knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance to join our team on a 14-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a complex, multi-province payroll environment for ~2,000 employees, and contribute to payroll accuracy, compliance, and process improvement.
As a Payroll Analyst, you will manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees across multiple provinces, and entities, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll legislation. Working with ADP GlobalView (GV) and integrated HRIS systems, you’ll ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in every payroll cycle.
You’ll also collaborate closely with HR, Finance, HRIS and other internal partners to deliver reporting, audits, and payroll insights while continuously improving processes and maintaining strong internal controls.

Responsibilities
- Insights and Reporting : Review full pay and balance reports to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to release.
- Solutions Analysis : Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
- Internal Client Relationship Management : Build effective working relationships within the internal client organization, delivering high-quality professional services with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Information and Business Advice : Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
- Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols : Manage benefits premium deductions and group RRSPs. Prepare transfers to third parties and ensure compliance with internal and government requirements in collaboration with stakeholders when required. Manage banking of hours and statutory holidays. Manage employee data changes, new hires, and terminations accurately and confidentially.
- Financial Information Systems : Generate and analyze payroll reports for leadership, Finance, and HR teams. Conduct audits and reconciliations to ensure payroll accuracy. Support compliance reviews and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Payroll Administration : Verify and reconcile payroll data between HRIS and ADP GlobalView. Ensure timesheets are completed at all levels. Have excellent knowledge of provincial overtime laws. Conduct payroll checks and ensure source documentation is adequately reflected in the payroll system.
- Operational Compliance : Ensure compliance with multi-province tax laws, overtime, vacation pay, statutory holidays, termination pay rules, etc.
System & Process Support
Maintain and support ADP GlobalView system functionality, updates, and integrations.Collaborate with Finance on reconciliations, remittances, and third-party payments.Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.Employee & Stakeholder SupportProvide timely and professional responses to employees, manager, and government inquiries.Act as a subject matter expert on Canadian payroll legislation and compliance.What you will bring to the Team :
PCP designation with the National Payroll Institute (or in progress).Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, HR, or related field.8+ years of Canadian payroll experience across multiple provinces.Advanced knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and reporting.Systems expertise : ADP GlobalView, Excel (advanced). Oracle / BST experience is plus.Demonstrated experience with audits, reconciliations, and internal controls.High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong understanding of payroll government regulations, tax compliance, and related legal requirements.Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.Collaborative, self-motivated, and customer focused.The salary range for this position is : $63,300 - $105,500K
The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
