We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our clients team in Ottawa, Ontario. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to financial planning, reporting, and analysis within a dynamic non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring variance analysis from the budget is conducted effectively.
• Collaborate in the development and assessment of financial data for annual budget planning.
• Create cost analysis reports and other financial documents as required.
• Oversee the integration of financial data into the General Ledger from various accounting systems, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and travel expenses.
• Provide guidance and support to assistant accountants in their tasks and the use of accounting software.
• Supervise the reconciliation of asset and liability accounts in the General Ledger and ensure accuracy in sub-ledgers.
• Monitor and maintain cash flow projections, optimizing funds for expense payments and surplus investment opportunities.
• Document processes for all accounting applications and recommend training strategies to enhance staff development and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of accounting procedures and address related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Certified Accountant (CPA) designation with at least seven years of relevant experience.
• Proven expertise in preparing financial statements, reports, budgets, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Strong supervisory abilities, organizational skills, and the capacity to work independently with precision.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and tools, including NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing processes.
• Availability to travel and work weekends as necessary, ensuring flexibility to meet organizational needs.
