Qualifications and Experience
- Oil field safety tickets: H2S Alive, Ground disturbance level 2, First Aid, Common safety orientation.
- 5-7 years of work experience in the trade
- Interpreting drawings and installing piping systems according to specifications
- Performing or supporting welding, threading, and mechanical jointing
- Conducting hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of piping systems
- Selecting and preparing pipe materials, fittings, and supports
- Applying P&IDs, spool drawings, and isometric diagrams to fieldwork
- Understanding flow dynamics, pressure ratings, and system components
- Working to standards such as ASME, API, CSA, and site-specific codes
- Ability to operator picker truck and perform lifts
- Able to read and follow maps to remote locations.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Installations and maintenance of piping systems
- Tie-ins for new and existing systems.
- Cut openings for pipes in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to the required shape using hand and power tools.
- Weld, braze, cement, solder, and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of the piping system.
- Running the threading machine to create a threaded pipe.
- Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems.
- Test the system for leaks using testing equipment.
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings, and flush systems.
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate the system.
- Pigging and testing of pipelines.
- Painting, housekeeping, and other labourer duties.
- Follow all company, client, and OHS safety requirements.
Working Conditions
Average 10-hour days, weather conditions, changing environment, cramped and awkward positions. Working with heavy tools and materials. Working with overhead loads, knuckle-boom, overhead cranes, and rope rigging.
