Payroll Manager

Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Manager for a manufacturing client in Welland. As part of this role, you will oversee payroll processing, ensure compliance with employment standards, and support a global organization. This is a short term contract and working arrangement is 5 days onsite.

Responsibilities :

• Manage payroll operations for approximately 70 salaried and hourly employees ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Address employee relations matters, including claims and provincial tax compliance, while adhering to regulations.
• Prepare detailed and advanced Excel reports to support manufacturing plant operations.
• Guarantee payroll deadlines are met, including T4 submissions, while maintaining precise records.
• Ensure compliance with employment standards and tax regulations.
• Year-end reconciliation and review of payroll and tax items, including Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance (EI), income tax, Employer Health Tax (EHT), Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), as well as federal and provincial sales tax filings for HST and QST.
• Collaborate with a global organization to support payroll needs within a manufacturing setting.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll systems and procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HR and payroll management, preferably within manufacturing and global organizations.
• Extensive knowledge of Canadian payroll practices, employment standards, and tax regulations.
• Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll software systems, including ADP Workforce Now and Ceridian.
• Strong understanding of benefit functions, tax accounting, and auditing processes.
• Experience with accounting software systems and payroll functions in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills to handle complex payroll operations.
