Job Summary

The Team

The Child and Youth Mental Health(CYMH) Duncan team, is a compassionate and collaborative team dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families in the Cowichan Valley, including a small Eating Disorder Program and Indigenous Child and Youth Mental Health. Our team is comprised of a dedicated group or experienced clinicians, newer clinicians, a supportive Team Leader and two Child and Adolescent psychiatrists that combine to create a knowledgeable and skilled team. Together, we bring energy, expertise, and a commitment to knowledge-sharing, working alongside families and community partners to deliver wrap-around support for children, youth, and their families. The Role

As a CYMH Clinician on our team, you'll play a vital role in providing direct clinical services including intake services, assessment, treatment and some crisis intervention. You will work closely with team members, community agencies, schools, hospitals and other ministry programs to provide comprehensive care, including individual, group and family therapy. You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and passionate team to make a meaningful positive difference in the lives of children, youth, and their families facing emotional and behavioral challenges. You may find yourself providing sessions in your office or out in the beautiful outdoors that the Cowichan Valley has to offer. Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level in a similar subject may be considered.

NOTE : If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
  • Preference may be given to applicants with the following :

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

    About this Position :

    This is a temporary opportunity until January 6, 2026.

    Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
