We are currently seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to assume the part-time, casual positions of Lifeguard with the Community Services Department.
Reporting to the Pool Supervisor, as a Lifeguard, you will learn and become proficient in safe and proper lifeguard techniques (using NL standards) with the main emphasis on patron safety, providing high quality customer service and pool supervision and / or instruction to all pool patrons.
Other duties may include : responding to incidents that occur in the facility, actively participating in mandatory in-service training events, and carrying out regular checks of the change room and general guard area.
If you have the qualifications to be an Instructor in addition to a Lifeguard, you will also learn and become proficient in safe and proper techniques in teaching swimming lessons (Lifesaving Society Standards) or Aquafit.
You may also instruct and prepare aquatic lessons for children, youth, and adults, and evaluate class participant performance, completing progress cards as applicable.
Qualifications for Lifeguards include : current National Lifeguard Award, current Standard First Aid with CPR-C, the ability to pass the Building Standards Exam, and a knack for providing top-notch customer service.
Required qualifications for Lifeguard / Instructor include : all of the qualifications listed above for a Lifeguard as well as Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Award and / or Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor Award.
