Wood is currently seeking an expression of interest for upcoming Senior Mechanical Engineering to join our Canada Projects business delivering some of the world's boldest and most critical projects. This opportunity is hybrid.

The Role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in our office based in Sarnia, Ontario. Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Department, the role supports Wood’s future and ongoing projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing and updating mechanical specifications, technical documentation, and equipment data sheets, as well as managing RFQs and evaluating supplier bids. This role will provide technical assessments and support decision-making throughout the mechanical engineering process.

  • Competitive salary with regular salary reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the market. Salary range for this position is $107,000 CAD to $150,000 CAD. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Expected:

  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer ( in PEO
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant EPC experience working on Oil and Gas projects.
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant experience in conceptual, front-end, and detailed engineering on various mid to large capital projects in oil & gas, Oilsands including Refinery, Upgrader, SAGD, and Petro-Chemicals
  • In-depth knowledge of industry codes: ASME, API and Codes
  • Knowledge and proven application in all aspects of Materials, Welding and NDE will be considered an asset
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong technical writing skills; experienced in the preparation of correspondence and technical reports.
  • Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Willing to travel and accept field assignments.
  • Motivated by working with people, through internal collaboration or with external clients.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel)

Desirable:

  • Hands-on field/site experience in operations, mechanical equipment maintenance, inspections and workshop repairs and turnarounds will be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, or similar, software would be considered an asset.
