About the Role

We are currently looking for a Facilities Assistant to fill a vacancy and join our Facilities Team. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this role will be responsible for day to day and long-term maintenance of Semex premises. This role supports any special or one-time projects within the organization.

What You Will Do:

• Assist the Facilities Manager with routine facilities maintenance and inspection
• Equipment care, maintenance and provide troubleshooting support for equipment repair
• Operate turf cutting equipment, weed trimmers, small hand tools in lawn and green space maintenance
• Perform horticultural/forestry maintenance
• Perform physical work, as required, in a mainly outdoor environment
• Set up for special events
• Complete daily time sheets and log books as required
• Other duties as assigned

What You Need to Succeed:

• A high school diploma
• A valid driver’s license
• CompletedForklift Trainingor certificationis an asset
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is an asset

Work Location & Minimum Pay Rate

The expected contract duration for this role is April through November. This is an in‑person position based in Guelph, requiring on‑site work five days per week. Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional on‑call availability outside of these hours as required by the organization. The position offers a minimum starting wage of $20.00 per hour, with the potential for additional compensation based on relevant experience and qualifications.
