SUMMARY
The Database Administrator (DBA) will possess extensive knowledge and practical experience in supporting enterprise database environments with MS SQL, along with proficiency in one or more of the following : Oracle, MongoDB, mySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL. The DBA’s responsibilities include managing database operations such as installations and upgrades, data access and migration, high availability, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Furthermore, they will provide technical leadership in areas including database design and solutioning, security, performance tuning, and capacity planning to ensure robust support for business-critical applications.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Database Management :
- Manage all database instances, including creation, configuration, and monitoring
- Proactively ensure optimal availability and performance of the database systems
- Ensure 24x7 operations of customer-critical database systems
- Implement and support cloud-based database solutions
- Provide guidance on data modelling, database design and infrastructure
- Design and implement highly available, redundant database solutions
- Generate standard operating procedures for database operations in order to standardize all relevant database activities
Database Application Support :
Provide support for database applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliabilityCollaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutionsTroubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptlySupport code or release deployment processPerformance Tuning :

2-5 years of proven experience as a Database AdministratorPost-Secondary education in IT or related disciplineExtensive hands-on experience building and managing MS SQL servers and databasesProficiency with one or more of the following database systems : Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and / or otherExperience designing, configuring and managing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) database solutionsExperience in performance tuning, monitoring, backup and recoveryExtensive hands-on experience with the following MS SQL Server database technologies : SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and T-SQLKnowledge of various types of file and data structures, understanding of concepts relating to Data WarehousesProficient in dimensional modeling, application design and developmentPossess strong security practices with regards to authentication, authorization, compliance, and encryptionExperience managing database systems on physical, virtual and cloud environmentsExperience with Windows and Linux operating systemsFamiliarity with Azure or AWS services is a plusKnowledge of scripting languages (., Python, Shell scripting) for automationKnowledge of SQL monitoring tools (., Redgate SQL Monitor, SolarWinds, Oracle Enterprise Manager, dbWatch)Good verbal and written communication skills (English)Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent and conflicting priorities and deadlinesAbility to work both independently with minimal supervision and in a team environmentWillingness to learn and adapt in a fast pace, dynamic environmentExcellent customer service skills, with a clear understanding of customer impact and business requirementTechnical writing including documentation of proceduresLicenses and / or Professional Accreditation

The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education, professional designations and performance related to this role.
