Job Description

In this role, you will support the ongoing implementation of an expanded risk assessment and management framework for Total Fund Risk towards enhancing CPP Investments’ broader risk management practices. You will use your skills and knowledge to take advantage of RADAR, our new risk system developed to reimagine our overall risk management capabilities and build out Total Fund specific functionalities and capabilities within RADAR. With the support of the Total Fund Risk Oversight Team and the Risk Analytics team, you will develop tools and reporting to enhance the management and analytics of Total Fund Risk.

We’re looking for an experienced professional who enjoys working with people, has hands-on knowledge of programming languages – Python preferred – and data, and likes to collaborate with others to solve challenging problems with technology in the Investment Risk domain.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support the implementation and integration of Total Fund risk data to RADAR.
  • Design and develop tools to support risk analytics across Total Fund Risk. This includes top level Total Fund strategic risk metrics; cascading to Investment Department and strategy level to enhance ad hoc, daily, monthly, and quarterly risk reporting.
  • Support development and efficiency of ongoing risk reporting through the development of tools and automation.
  • Partner with groups across the organization in ambitious cross-department initiatives.
  • Qualifications

    Key Functional Competencies :

  • Practical experience using Python, particularly with respect to data and automation.
  • Domain Knowledge : brings, or has keen desire to develop, knowledge a broad-based Investment portfolio and the markets in which they operate. Ideally brings prior experience gained at an asset manager, including knowledge of one or more of equities, fixed income, credit, or FX.
  • Leverage knowledge and analytical mindset to understand and identify tools to support risk assessment and management of public and private assets.
  • Relationship Builder : Builds strong relationships and partnerships within the group to build out the best-in-class analytics and reporting.
  • Analytical Abilities : Analytical mindset, able to synthesize multiple sources of information and identify interplay within defined use cases.
  • Initiative and Project Management : Able to take initiative, manage project timelines, engage with stakeholders, and support key business interests.
  • Communication : Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to many different audiences. Ability to effectively share knowledge with team members on how to leverage tools to enhance reporting
  • Education and Experience :

  • Relevant university degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math, or Computer Science.
  • Professional qualifications relevant to risk or alternative assets ( CFA Charterholder, CAIA, FRM) an asset.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, databases management, and data visualization software ( Tableau, Python, Microsoft Excel) desired.
  • Meaningful (at least 5 years) relevant professional experience in the investment industry, preferably in an asset management or risk role.
  • High level of numeracy, comfort working with, or experience in, quantitative approaches.
