Responsibilities :

HR / Employee Relations :

  • Guide, train, and coach Leads, Supervisors and Managers on employee relations and legislative matters for a workforce of 100+ employees
  • Implements the HR programs by providing HR services, which may include full cycle recruitment, administration of compensation and benefits programs, training and development and employee relations
  • Continually scan the environment for improving our HR service and support programs to uphold our preferred employer status
  • Create and deliver fun and engaging programs and activities jointly with the Social & Engagement Committee
  • Manage the HRIS, ADP Workforce Now for the employee lifecycle
  • Identify and resolve employee relations issues. Provide guidance to managers and mediate workplace conflict resolution
  • Ensure compliance with our Values, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and act to develop a positive culture and enjoyable workplace highlighting diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging
  • Manage employee performance review process
  • Lead by example as a member of the HR team and provide mentorship and coaching, as needed
  • Coordinate training and development programs.
  • Other projects as assigned

HR / Employee Relations :

  • HR support for Health and Safety committees
  • Ensure H&S programs are maintained across all locations.
  • Ensure communication channels exist between employees and the H&S committees and promote engagement with all parties to foster a culture built on safety knowledge and awareness, involvement and ultimately reduce risks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and maintain KPI’s and metrics to ensure safety goals.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related discipline
  • 3+ years experience in related HR Generalist / Advisor / Business Partner role(s)
  • 2+ years experience taking a leading role with Health & Safety programs, preferably in a construction, industrial, or manufacturing setting; a combination of education and experience will be considered
  • CPHR certification is an asset
  • Exceptionally skilled at employing accountability, building relationships, trust, and applying good logic in supporting an engaged workforce
  • Proficient knowledge of current HR practices and trends, local employment legislation and legal practices to apply to the business
  • Excellent coaching, conflict resolution, and communication skills with proven ability to influence and lead
  • Proven delivery of timely work with a sense of urgency, customer service and team orientation
  • A solid understanding of WCB Health and Safety regulations and a keen ability to research and quickly learn multi-Province and multi-State Health and Safety best practices and regulations
  • Able to implement WorkSafeBC programs and conduct in person and remote training
  • Energetic, self-motivated and presents H&S in a positive and practical manner
  • Strong skills in the suite of Microsoft programs; Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Experience conducting site safety audits and inspections, incident investigations and reporting.
