YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE
We are looking for a Chemistry Laboratory Technician in #106- 8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, V3N OB9 CAN. Your mission will be to :
- Performs analyses with GC-MS-MS, GC-MS, GC-FID instrumentation
- Utilizes various gas chromatographic techniques to determine the concentration of target analytes in food or supplement samples
- Ensures proper extraction methods are conducted on samples
- Maintains chemistry quality control records and procedures for each analysis
- Records and interprets analytical data
- Prepares standards or reagents required for the analysis procedures
- Maintains knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities
- Maintains clean working area
- Determines root cause and corrective action for investigation
- Communicates procedural and operational difficulties and delays to supervisor
- Reviews batches and responds to out-of-specification results or questionable data
- Maintains equipment records in databases in accordance with our Quality System
- Adheres to all safety policies
YOUR PROFILE
Profile :
A diploma in chemistry or food science is preferred but previous experience is accepted.
Required skills :
This position requires the ability to follow specific instructions. A general understanding of the needs of the laboratory is required to avoid delays in sample testing or inaccurate results.
Excellent verbal communication skills are required to interact with peers and management.

Work Environment :
The incumbent works in the laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory.
The incumbent works in the laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer. The incumbent is required to wear masks, laboratory coat and insulated gloves when working with the media.
Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds is necessary when loading and preparing samples for autoclaving. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position.
Sunday to Thursday schedule approximately noon to 8 : 30pm
