The Neuroscience & Trauma program provides inpatient, neurosurgical and neurological services across the continuum to individuals who suffer from brain tumor, traumatic brain injury and cerebral vascular accidents.
Position Summary
The Registered Practical Nurse works as part of a multi-disciplinary team that uses a client centered approach to patient care and provides nursing care within the Registered Practical Nurse scope of practice. As a part of this healthcare team, the RPN collaborates to provide pre and post operative care to adult patients undergoing neurosurgery.

Qualifications
1. Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
2. Current Medication Administration and Asepsis certificates
3. Current certificates or current Community College studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, IV administration, venipuncture, and management, transcribing physician orders
4. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation BCLS certification or equivalent
5. Completion of Physical Assessment Course
6. Recent experience (2 years) in an acute adult medical/surgical unit
7. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high turnover environment
8. Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
9. Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment, problem identification and problem solving
10. Ability to prioritize and collaborate with the team when the patients conditions changes
11. Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing professional development
12. Rehab experience an asset
