Primary Objective Of The Position
The Ground handler is responsible for operating all equipment in a safe and proper manner and reporting any damage or potential problems.
Essential Position Functions
- Loading / offloading of aircrafts and trucks
- Operating ground support equipment
- Repeated and continuous lifting of packages up to 60lbs
- Sort packages based on customer, airport of destination, and other parameters
- Communicate piece counts, and package information to Lead Hands, and Supervisors
- Handle customer packages, and freight with due care and attention
- Ensure all safety and security protocols are adhered to
- Perform general housekeeping duties as required
- Perform tasks associated with Dangerous Goods Handling / Acceptance
- Meet time sensitive deadlines for freight build‑up / breakdown as part of a team dynamic
- Learn and apply specific training modules required for position (WHMIS, SMS, Dangerous Goods, Hazard Prevention, etc.)
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Working in and around aircraft daily
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalent experienceValid Class 5 Drivers Licence or equivalentAbility to obtain a RAIC pass (Transport Canada Security Clearance)Ability to lift to 60lbs repeatedlyAbility to work within a “team first” environment, and complete common goals within time sensitive deadlinesExcellent punctuality, and attendance habitsAbility to learn quickly, and adapt to fast changing customer requirementsWillingness to take direction with a keen interest in further development within the Calgary operationStrong written and verbal communication skillsFlexible to work shift work, weekends and stat holidaysBe willing to be subject to a background check; clearance is requiredBe willing to work outside.Important To Know
