SCOPE

Located in the Finance and Administration area of the Inuvik Regional Hospital (IRH) the Administrative Assistant, Administration reports directly to the NTHSSA-BDR Executive Assistant, and provided administrative support involving highly confidential and sensitive information that could impact on clients and / or family members, employees of the NTHSSA, Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), GNWT, clients and / or their families.

The Administrative Assistant Administration provides general administrative support to managers and staff to ensure the effective functioning of the administration offices in the Northwest Territories (NTHSSA) Beaufort Delta Region (BDR). This position operates within the NTHSSA By-laws, NTHSSA Policies and Procedures, and Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Legislation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of office and administrative procedures supported by organization and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of general office duties and records management, including ARCS and ORCS (Administrative Record Classification / Operation Records Classification) systems.
  • Writing skills and the ability to proofread documents for style, form, spelling and grammar.
  • Knowledge and ability to network resources within and outside the employing Health and Social Services Authority to ensure support for clients and their families.
  • Knowledge of proficiency in a variety of programs and systems including word processing, spreadsheet, data collection, email, and telecommunications; maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work independently and ensure accuracy when booking clients appointments and rescheduling appointments.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients with composure and tact.
  • Ability to interact and coordinate with Managers, a range of health and social services professionals and clientele who come from a range of social, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Sensitivity and respect for all cultures and traditions, with knowledge of the culture and traditions of the northern and Indigenous people.
  • Ability to accurately track and record financial information, and manage financial documents.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by :

The equivalent of a two (2) year Business Administration program with three (3) years of administration / accounting related experience.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $34.20 per hour (approximately $66,690. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance.
