Job Summary

Reporting directly to the QA Manager, this is a highly hands-on technical role with primary focus on raw material testing (chemicals, dyes, and other components used in cosmetic formulations) and primary packaging components, ensuring full compliance with FDA cosmetic regulations (including MoCRA), GMPs (ISO 22716; ISO 9001 guidelines), and internal company standards. This role serves as the primary quality authority for raw material and primary packaging testing, while also supporting broader QA / QC functions across production stages and laboratory management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the inspection, sampling, verification, re-identification (for dyes and colorants), and testing of all incoming raw materials (chemicals, actives, preservatives, dyes, etc.) and packaging components (bottles, caps, labels, etc.) to confirm identity, quality and other physicochemical properties (e.g., appearance, pH, solubility, viscosity, strength etc.), microbiological safety, and compliance with established specifications, Certificates of Analysis (CoA) from suppliers
• Coordinating testing of primary packaging materials for integrity, and compliance with specifications.
• Maintaining detailed records of all testing activities, deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) investigations, and retesting protocols; retaining reserve samples of approved raw material lots under controlled conditions for periodic re-evaluation.
• Create, revise, and maintain Quality Department’s documentation (SOPs, forms, logbooks, and related records).
• Support the QA Manager with internal audits and provide QA support for non-conformities, deviations, complaints, CAPA activities, and training documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment in accordance with company policies and GMP requirements.
• Maintain calibration and preventive maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment.
• Support the department during employee absences to ensure continuity of operations.
• Quarterly, ship out wastewater to external laboratory for analysis and prepare required weekly and annual reports.
