Job Summary

Freedom Foods (2024) Inc. is seeking an experienced Human Resources Professional to join our Senior Management Team! In this key role, you will partner closely with the leaders across our 15 McDonald’s Restaurant locations, supporting approximately 1,000 employees from St. John’s to Gander.

As a trusted HR Leader, you will serve as the first point of contact for restaurant teams, delivering proactive and effective human resources solutions. You will be a strategic partner to the leadership team and an advocate for employees. This role involves frequent interaction with employees, management, and external partners and may require balancing strategic planning with day-to-day operational demands, including some evenings and weekends when required.

The Human Resources Manager oversees all aspects of the organization’s HR functions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, while fostering a positive, productive, and compliant workplace. This role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and relationship building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations

• Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees, offering guidance and support on HR-related matters; Investigate, mediate, and resolve employee concerns and conflicts, ensuring a respectful and positive workplace environment; Coach and support managers in addressing sensitive employee relations issues; Lead and manage the progressive discipline process and disciplinary procedures; Administer Employee Benefits and Employee Assistance (EAP) Programs; Manage Leave of Absence documentation, including benefit continuation and return-to-work planning; Administer the Attendance Management Program; Ensure accurate documentation and proper procedures for investigations, agreements, and disciplinary actions; and Support initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture and enhance employee engagement and retention.
