Position Overview

The medical editor listens to recorded dictation from health care providers using computer software a headset and foot pedal to type edit / correct and format automated medical speech recognition transcripts and efficiently produce accurate medical reports. The medical editor will ensure accurate distribution of medical reports and timely completion of editing within the established provincial turnaround times and productivity position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience transcribing or editing in a medical / healthcare environment including; 2 years experience applying medical terminology including anatomy physiology disease processes acronyms pharmaceuticals laboratory values surgical procedures and instruments and techniques.
• 2 years experience working with voice recognition software and use of a headset and foot pedal.

Qualifications and Skills

Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.

Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper electronic formats and other mediums.

Good work and attendance record.

Requires a valid Class 5 drivers license an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1000000.00.
