Position Summary This position is responsible for providing general support in the laundry facilities including washing, drying and folding linen and maintaining accurate records for inventory control. Duties & Responsibilities
- Checks, records and maintains rotation of incoming laundry from suppliers, utilizing inventory management software.
- Receives soiled laundry from students and instructors and replaces with clean garments.
- Washes towels and other soiled linen for various programs as required.
- Assists in folding clean laundry and stocking clothing racks.
- Brings damaged garments to the attention of the Laundry Supervisor.
- Assists with the towel exchange.
- Assists with inventory tracking.
- Attends department meetings.
- Wears required uniform.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Completion of Grade 12, including successful completion of Grade 12 English and Grade 11 Math and up to 3 months’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and / or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.Skills and Abilities
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and faculty.Good working knowledge of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Attention to detail and ability to maintain concise and accurate records.Good organizational skills.Computer experience and a basic understanding of MS Word and Excel, combined with keyboarding and data entry skills. Experience with inventory software preferred.Ability to handle varying work related priorities at the same time and work to deadlines with minimal supervision, exhibiting initiative.Working knowledge of commercial washers and dryers.Ability to work in a physically demanding environment requiring heavy lifting, reaching, bending and standing for long periods of time.
