Role & Responsibilities

Driver Guide : Lead a group through an interpretive experience while safely operating a commercial vehicle. Follow road laws, be courteous to other drivers, and set a good example on the road.

Open Top Touring Driver Guide responsibilities include being a memory maker, developer of entertaining educational experiences, purveyor of authentic passion, and smile provider.

• Follow all instructions regarding operations from base and coordinators, while staying on time and on schedule.
• Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections at the compound.
• Understand tour routes and content to deliver a unique interpretive experience in a fun, safe, and engaging way during 90-minute loops.
• Greet guests, welcome them onboard, and be responsible for their safety both on the tour and at designated stops; ensure all guests are accounted for.
• Prepare for tours including printing passenger manifests, beverage service, and cleaning / sanitizing vehicles.
• Maintain all logs and / or paperwork required by Transport Canada daily, including Vehicle Inspection Report and Electronic Logging Device and / or Driver Logbook.
• Wear a unique uniform and use provided props and materials to bring content to life.
• Perform Pursuit Adventure Centre / Transportation Desk Agent duties, including ticket sales, merchandise retail sales, operating the Point-of-Sale system, and cash handling.
• Assist with cleaning of the vehicle at the end of each day and proper storage of vehicle and supplies.
• Be attuned to weather patterns and determine canvas roof requirements – safely removing or installing the roof as needed; some heavy overhead lifting is required.
• Additional responsibilities and roles within Brewster Transportation.
• Act as an ambassador for Open Top Touring, Pursuit, Brewster Transportation, the town of Banff and Banff National Park.

Required Skills & Qualifications

The starting wage for this position is $17.50 per hour during training until sign-off. Successful candidates who complete training and continue as Driver Guides will be offered a union position with Brewster Transportation, with wages aligned to the collective bargaining agreement. Position contingent upon successful training and acquisition of Alberta Class 4 Driver’s License.
