Equipment Mechanic - Field

Overview

Equipment Mechanic - Field at Altec. We are seeking an experienced mechanic with a strong mechanical background and experience working on electrical and hydraulic components, including the ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform replacement of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
• Utilize technical resources (operator, parts, and maintenance manuals, HowFactory, etc.) in troubleshooting, determining procedures, and identifying parts needed for repair.
• Perform Unit Condition Inspections and Reports.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
• Perform all tasks in accordance with Altec Safety practices and procedures.
• Advise supervisors of situations that may impact a customer relationship.
• Provide accurate and sufficient information on all required documents.
• Demonstrate Altec Company Values.
• All other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Background

• Experience with aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes; construction, mining, farm equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dozers or tractors; aircraft and aerospace or ground support equipment (AGE/GSE) or similar.
• Previous mechanic and/or equipment service experience.
• Education in mechanics, electrical or hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, provincially-approved High School Equivalency, or GED.
• Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to move objects and tools weighing up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
• High level of dexterity.
• As needed, provide basic tools per the Altec tool policy.
• Ability to drive motor vehicles.
• Develop basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work overtime to support customers.
• Advocate safety in everything we do.
