Recreation Therapist (TFT 1.0 FTE)

Duties

Under the direction of the Manager, Patient Care Services, you will work as part of a team, providing services to people with complex mental illness and substance use disorders.

• Coordinate and deliver therapeutic recreation programs for Forensic Assessment and Rehabilitation Units
• Set goals and objectives for recreation and leisure studies.
• Design program based on client needs, interests, and best practices aligned with clinical direction
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for recreation services
• Manage equipment and resources effectively
• Engage in ongoing professional development
• Research and adapt recreation opportunities for clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders
• Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and families to support client goals
• Supervise students and volunteers
• Facilitate quality and risk management activities for the program Complete assessments and reports per ROHCG and TRO standards
• Create individualized recreation plans with the interdisciplinary team Ensure program information is accessible to clients and families
• Organize outings as clinically indicated
• Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient / client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG, and policies of the Forensic Treatment Unit.
• Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment, and Discrimination Free Workplace Policy.
