Maintenance Manager : Trucking Fleet

New maintenance management role in Castlegar, Salmo, or Nelson BC.

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager : Heavy Equipment, based in either our Castlegar, Salmo, or Nelson locations in the West Kootenays region of British Columbia to join our growing Sutherland Group Maintenance team.   • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Director of Assets in the development of Maintenance KPIs and tracking processes.
  • Strategy analysis of KPI's, and developing strategies to improve repair performance, servicing mean time comparisons vs repair costs / anomalies, cost reduction strategy on repair and maintenance.
  • Assist the Maintenance team in developing SOPs, flow charts, and best practices to improve repair functions and direct cost reduction strategy.
  • Support the Assets Maintenance team in projects and activities as required.
  • Equipment Maintenance

  • Sutco Division R&M prioritization, Vendor planning, and joint team collaboration for operational planning or maintenance requirements including execution follow-up.
  • Triage Repairs as needed and support development for Maintenance Coordinator on triage abilities.
  • Work with Operations Planner to create any plans for repair, swaps, drops, or quick maintenance repairs, then communicate the plan to the Dispatch team for execution.
  • Track maintenance and repairs reported from DVIRs and telematics.
  • Follow up on ongoing repairs (update all divisions daily) and end-of-day report out to the leadership team.
  • Performance reporting, Monthly
  • Communicate with field staff and operators
  • Manage telematics on all equipment as required.
  • Manage PO process and support accounting on invoicing
  • Manage various inventory including supply storage and tire inventory.
  • Downtime tracking and reporting.
  • Track and manage permit requirements for all divisions including border and scale transponders.
  • Update licensing on all equipment as required
  • Mileage reports (Monday morning)
  • Performance reporting weekly
  • Track accidents and damages, and open ICBC claims as needed.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    As a member of the Sutherland Group team, we expect you to bring the following to the table :

  • 7+ years of leadership within the transportation industry.
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A working knowledge of all provincial and federal transportation regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an ability to budget and a knowledge of the billing process.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and critical thinking.
  • Class 1 License. An asset but not required,
  • Mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment.
  • Mid-level computer skills must be able to navigate Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • An ability to prioritize and multitask; specifically, the ability to handle more than one situation or challenge at any given time systematically while maintaining personal composure.
  • Thorough understanding of the Transportation Industry
