Accountant - Entry Level

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Accountant to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This is a contract position lasting 2.5 months, with the possibility of extension or transitioning into a permanent role. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Finance, contributing to key accounting tasks and gaining valuable experience within the private equity industry.

Responsibilities :

• Perform accurate data entry tasks, including recording invoices and expenses into accounting systems.
• Create and manage invoices, ensuring timely processing and proper documentation.
• Assist with basic bookkeeping activities, such as categorizing transactions in QuickBooks and reviewing credit card statements.
• Support audit procedures by preparing necessary documentation and addressing audit-related inquiries.
• Contribute to financial reporting for both internal and external purposes.
• Handle expense tracking and allocate costs appropriately.
• Collaborate with the finance team to streamline accounting processes and maintain accurate records.
• Utilize QuickBooks Desktop and other tools like Harvest for timekeeping as required.
• Provide assistance with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards in all financial activities.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting experience, ideally in an entry-level role.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and familiarity with bookkeeping practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills and a personable attitude.
• Basic understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting field.
• Knowledge of bank reconciliations and account reconciliation processes.
