Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday between 7:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., with alternating half-day Saturdays
Location: Hawkesbury, Ontario (Eastern Ontario region) We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join a patient-centered healthcare team in Hawkesbury, ON. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples and other specimens, performing patient testing, and delivering an exceptional patient experience grounded in empathy, professionalism, and care. You will work closely with a collaborative team while upholding quality standards, regulatory requirements, and service excellence in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Bilingualism is considered an asset. Key Responsibilities
- Provide a best-in-class patient experience by delivering courteous, compassionate, and professional service
- Perform venipuncture and collect blood and other specimens in accordance with established procedures
- Accurately enter patient and test information, including Ministry of Health requisitions
- Conduct ECGs, Holter monitor hookups, and collections related to urine, drug and alcohol testing, paternity testing, and other required procedures
- Sort, prepare, and ensure specimens and documentation meet SOP requirements for transport to the laboratory
- Adhere to protocols for handling acceptable and unacceptable samples
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information at all times
- Contribute to quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring
- Completion of Secondary School
- Graduation from a Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Assistant program, including formal phlebotomy training
- Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy with the ability to reassure and support anxious patients
- Strong customer service mindset with genuine care for patient well-being
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to self-manage in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills; bilingual capabilities are an asset
