Packaging Specialist

Overview

Packaging Specialist – Procurement role at Agropur. The role will work closely with the Director of R&D Packaging and Technology to develop and oversee packaging specifications, lead reengineering initiatives, act as a liaison between corporate offices and manufacturing sites, and manage procurement projects and supplier / SKU implementations. This strategic position contributes to the optimization of packaging processes while supporting innovation and operational efficiency goals.

What This Role Involves

• Develop and formalize technical specifications for packaging solutions
• Act as an internal expert on assigned packaging types
• Collaborate on innovation in packaging materials and concepts
• Analyze market trends and competitor practices to improve cost and efficiency
• Propose packaging reformulations and conduct related case studies
• Apply continuous improvement tools (e.g., problem-solving, root cause analysis)
• Lead or support Design to Value (DTV) workshops to optimize packaging design
• Collaborate with plants and procurement teams to ensure technical requirements are accurately reflected in sourcing processes
• Influence internal stakeholders to adopt innovative practices
• Provide technical support on packaging-related projects (quality issues, specification changes, plant trials)
• Manage procurement and reformulation projects while minimizing operational disruptions
• Participate in onboarding new suppliers and SKUs, including plant trials
• Define target costs to support procurement negotiations
• Contribute to supplier technical audits in collaboration with the Quality team
• Foster strategic partnerships with suppliers to drive innovation and performance
