Job Description

CIMA+’s Transportation team have created a reputation for excellence within the transportation sector by successfully delivering thousands of projects over the past 30 years. Our talented engineers can lead any type of project, regardless of its complexity and scale. The team draws on a reservoir of diverse experience that includes planning, design, inspection, construction management, and infrastructure reconstruction in both rural and urban environments. We take a wholistic approach to transportation projects that minimizes the environmental footprint, promotes sustainable growth, and supports resilient communities. Our innovative solutions integrate all modes of transportation, so motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists co-exist safely and travel efficiently. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing Municipal and Transportation Design team in our Burlington or Mississauga, ON offices. Working closely with senior engineers and the design team, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical skills and project coordination experience to support the planning, design, and delivery of municipal and transportation infrastructure projects in a dynamic team environment.

Our hybrid work model can accommodate flexible work hours, and the position can be based out of our Burlington or Mississauga office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of transportation projects on local, collector, and arterial roads for various municipal clients throughout Ontario, including assisting with schedules, budgets, and quality control processes
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs and contract documents for urban and rural road construction and reconstruction projects
  • Assist with the design of municipal infrastructure including roadworks, watermains, storm and sanitary sewers, and related components
  • Coordinate with internal team members, external consultants, and clients to support project delivery and resolve design challenges
  • Participate in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and tender documents
  • Provide support during tendering and construction phases, including responding to contractor inquiries and reviewing shop drawings
  • Liaise with municipalities and regulatory authorities to support the permit and approval process
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support the development of junior staff when required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in transportation or municipal road design, preferably in Ontario
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings and contract documents for municipal infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of municipal design standards and applicable regulations in Ontario
  • Progress toward P.Eng. (or recently licensed as a P.Eng.) in Ontario is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Microsoft Office (experience with MS Project is an asset)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

At CIMA+, we value diversity of talent and perspective. You think you can add value, but don't meet all the job requirements? We invite you to apply, because everyone has something unique to offer. The outstanding talents that choose to join us at CIMA+ soon realize that we go all out to encourage them to grow. We look forward to hearing how you can contribute to our success.

Why choose CIMA+? Because we offer you:

  • Comprehensive Group Benefits available from day one for all permanent employees working at least 20 hours per week
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program
  • Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with up to 4% employer contribution
  • As an employee-owned company, an annual opportunity to purchase shares for all eligible employees
  • Flexible work schedule in a hybrid work mode
  • Work/Life balance policy across Canada
  • 3-5 weeks of vacation, based on years of relevant experience
  • Tailored training to improve your existing skills
