Description
Senior Piping Checkers are responsible for checking the technical requirements of the detailed drafting design of piping systems associated with plant piping, process modules and equipment layout including 3D models and 2D drawings and providing feedback and technical guidance to the design team. This position interfaces with the respective drafting coordinator or technical lead as well as the respective project engineer and provides progress updates to the respective design manager. Senior Piping Checkers complete advanced, complex, and confidential tasks requiring a strong understanding of engineering principles and a high standard of designing and drafting skill.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts detailed checking and reporting of piping drawings such as field drawings, spools, and assembly components
- Checks layouts and isometrics
- Checks piping 3D models
- Collaborate with Piping Designers and Drafters, Engineering disciplines, and Fabrication staff
- Assists design staff
- Provides weekly progress and status reports
- Assists with standards development
Prerequisites
Education
Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT) or recognized equivalent in piping designExperience
12 years minimum piping design experience5 years minimum checking experienceFabrication shop drafting and checking experienceStrong design skills in piping systems, structural supportsProficiency in AutoCAD / Navisworks 2020 and higher5 years minimum experience within 3D environmentsOther
