:High School DiplomaExperience working with children in a school or childcare settingBachelor of Education (Elementary, Middle or Secondary) degree, or equivalent training would be an assetA valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress would be an asset Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability:Ability to understand and effectively carry out general oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervisionAbility to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of informationAbility to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and proceduresA proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skillsSuccessful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into the curriculumKnowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students as well as a culturally diverse student population Successful experience working collaboratively with rural school communities, Yukon First Nations and local partners to support student learning and foster positive relationships.
