Job Summary
The Team
Join the Fire Weather Forecast Team, an established group of up to 7 staff, providing critical weather forecasts that impact wildfire decision-making and safety. You'll work in a hybrid, collaborative environment where your expertise directly supports wildfire response, making a real-world difference.
As a regional weather expert on a provincial forecasting team, your insights will directly support BC Wildfire's safety and decision-making. If you're passionate about weather and enjoy teaching, this role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact while valuing diverse perspectives.
Qualifications :
Education and Experience Requirements
- BSc degree in Meteorology; or qualification as an Operational Meteorologist through a recognized educational institute; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Experience using meteorological theory to improve upon or discount raw model output of temperature, wind, relative humidity, stability, and / or precipitation.
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
