Hours : Term role until July 2026, 7am to 7pm, 3on 3off

Position Summary :

Shift Supervisors provides supervision and guidance to front line staff and are expected to assist Program Coordinators / Managers with crisis management and critical incident debriefing. Shift Supervisors are also expected to provide direct care, support and services to clients in any program within Alpha House

Responsibilities of all Shift Supervisors :

• Interacts with clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner
• Provides client care and support relative to the classification of the front line staff they are supervising
• As part of the grievance procedure, address client concerns and sharing serious concerns with their Program Coordinator / Manager
• Provides training, coaching, mentorship, supervision and first level disciplinary action (verbal warnings, documented conversations, paid shift suspension) to front line staff.
• Respond and action concerns and issues brought forward from staff related to Alpha Houses Respectful Workplace Policy, Employee Complaints and Vulnerable Adults Abuse Policy
• Responsible for writing and conducting performance reviews of front line staff, and when necessary making recommendations regarding probation extensions or terminations
• Responsible for ensuring staff are able to fully function and are motivated to provide high quality client services in a warm and compassionate manner
• Attends to crisis' with a focus on defusing conflict situations before they escalate and providing debriefing as a group as well as 1 : 1 with staff impacted
• Ensures the safety of staff and clients by being up to date on safety protocols as well as accreditation and program audit standards
• Reports to the Program Coordinator / Manager on problems arising with team functioning and staff issues of a serious nature
• Partnering, interacting and building positive strategic partnerships with other agencies, community partners and stakeholders
• Be accountable in providing the Program Coordinator / Manager with updates, data and statistics for funding and outcome reports
• Following established protocols, supervises and assisting in ensuring bodily fluids are properly cleaned up and area is disinfected.
• Conducts shift exchange meetings with on-coming staff
• Ensure supplies and resources for the program are available for staff and clients by preparing and submitting purchase orders
• Observe and provide feedback to staff presenting workshops
• Responsible for ensuring that staff are attending to the personal care needs of clients in a respectful manner
• In collaboration with their Team, source, recommend and develop new programing
• Ensure all staff fully understand and utilize the Stages of Change model when interacting with clients
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate sources
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (MSDS, OH&S, WHMIS etc.), which includes assisting in maintaining cleanliness of the building both inside and out
