Casual Mobile Crisis Response Team Member
SCO is a growing and dynamic regional First Nation organization that represents 32 Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations and more than 87,000 citizens in what is now southern Manitoba. Established in 1999 by the Chiefs, SCO is mandated as an independent organization to protect, preserve, promote, and enhance First Nation peoples’ inherent rights, languages, customs, and traditions through the application and implementation of the spirit and intent of the Treaty-making process.
OVERVIEW :
The Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) Members are key members of the SCO MCRT who work with purpose to support southern First Nation citizens and communities with mobile crisis intervention, rapid response, and mental health and addiction navigation. The MCRT will be trauma-informed and benefit from southern Knowledge Keepers, Elders, and culturally appropriate mental health and wellness service providers. As qualified professionals, they will also act as a vital link to clients’ aftercare and / or future care plans and be trained for coordination services. This position is located in Brandon, MB.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reporting to the Health & Wellness Manager, MCRT Members will be responsible for :
- Crisis intervention, triage services, and increased capacity for emergency responses to crises
- Frontline mental health support services to 32 southern First Nation communities and Tribal Councils
- Provide community-specific trauma-informed mental health supports to community crisis events
- Relaying all necessary information to Health & Wellness Manager and Intake Coordinator(s)
- Mental Health First Aid screening and assessment to match individuals in crisis to the appropriate level of treatment and support
- Case Management
- Safe talk and sharing circles
- Short term, one-on-one counselling
- Substance use support and triaging using a harm reduction approach
- Grief and loss support
- Domestic and family violence support and triaging
- Referrals to traditional and clinical support services
- Alternative services including traditional ceremonies and land-based teachings
- Prevention training / Facilitation
- Individual client assessments such as suicide assessment and safety plan, self-esteem and depression scale, and mental health status
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS :
OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
WAGE RANGE : $65,000 – 80,000 (commensurate with education and experience)
