About Us
The Local Government Management Association of British Columbia (LGMA), located on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations in Victoria, is an independent non-profit organization that has provided professional development and training for local government professionals across B.C. for over 100 years.

Position Summary
This position will appeal to an experienced professional who thrives on building collaborative relationships and translating vision into action. The Senior Program Manager also functions as the Deputy Executive Director and serves the Association and its local government members by contributing to broad organizational strategy at the senior level and providing project / program oversight and management. In carrying out the day-to-day provision of professional development and member services, the position provides direction to and works collaboratively with colleagues, partner organizations / agencies, advisory committees, professional and volunteer service providers, and vendors, while adhering to policies and procedures set out by the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Periodic travel within British Columbia is required. Responsibilities include :
- Designing and implementing educational program opportunities, content, and delivery;
- Forging strategic alliances with key partners, sponsors, and members of other agencies core to the local government system support (e.g. UBCM, provincial ministries, FNPSS);
- Recruiting and supporting BC local government professionals to expand the LGMA’s volunteer network of advisory committee members and training facilitators;
- Providing direction and regular supervision to LGMA staff, suppliers, and volunteers to deliver high quality programs and services, while ensuring best value to the Association and its members;
- Contributing to longer-range planning and policy-making by providing strategic advice to the Executive Director and the Board; and participating in organizational financial, operational, and resource planning.
Qualifications
We are looking for a self-motivated leader with a post-secondary degree, Masters preferred, in Business, Public Administration, Adult Education or related training, and a demonstrated history of related experience with :
Understanding of the local government system in BC is an asset. Experience in planning large conferences, forums, or other professional development programs is an asset.
Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $55.18 / hour ($100,427 annually) in addition to a comprehensive benefit package and flexible working hours.
