The Technical Manager is a member of the Project Management Team (PMT) on the C3 / 4 project, responsible leading a group of I &C engineers and designers engaged in design activities such as specifications, procurement, verification and validation related to instrumentation and control systems. The Technical Manager oversees the execution of design and technical activities in a project delivery environment in accordance with industry standards and established governance. The Technical Manager will report functionally to the Director, I&C, Computers and Electrical Engineering, and daily to the project Technical Director.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team :
- Managing the design process from concept to preliminary to detailed design.
- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Coordinating and oversight of instrumentation and control design activities related to the completion of fundamental design for a nuclear power plant.
- Coordinating the design interface between the NSP and balance of plant (BOP) portions of a nuclear power plant.
- Working with assigned staff to find optimal solutions to project challenges.
- Providing technical guidance to staff, as appropriate.
- Ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, and in accordance with the contract, applicable specifications, and technical requirements.
- Interfacing with stakeholders, including Engineering peers, Modelling, Procurement, Construction representatives, and prospective equipment and / or system vendors, to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and that the resulting designs are constructable, operable, and maintainable.
- Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
- Approving engineering documents and deliverables.
- Removing barriers that could impact safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
- Participating in the preparation of commercial proposals and approving the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
- Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including required skills, capabilities, and durations.
- Working with marketing and other business groups to maintain and improve client relationships and offerings.
