Description de poste

Chief People & Inclusion Officer

Covenant House Vancouver

Vancouver, BC

Covenant House Vancouver acknowledges with gratitude that its work takes place on the traditional lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

With over 27 years of experience providing unconditional love and absolute respect to youth experiencing homelessness, Covenant House Vancouver (“CHV”) makes a positive difference for at-risk youth across Western Canada. The organization helps homeless, at-risk, and trafficked young people aged 16 to 24.

CHV offers a continuum of services using evidence-informed theories and practices that ensure they care for the entire person — mind, body, and spirit. Services range from outreach and drop-in to housing and support services that enable youth to transition into independence successfully. Enhancing the understanding of the related issues and delivering on impactful responses to them has been a hallmark of Covenant House, and few not-for-profits in this market have earned such a strong reputation for the way in which the organization goes about its work : professionally, consistently and empathetically, using data-driven approaches. The organization has a tremendous reputation locally, nationally and internationally and volunteers, staff and donors speak with pride about the work being done.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief People & Inclusion Officer will be instrumental in fostering a values-driven culture that supports homeless youth and empowers employees to thrive. This role involves overseeing talent acquisition, employee engagement, organizational development, and ensuring that all human resources practices align with the mission and vision of the organization. They will ensure that principles around inclusion, equity, diversity, psychological safety, decolonization, anti-oppression, Truth & Reconciliation are embedded in decision-making and organizational strategies, providing inspired and collaborative leadership that drives change and impacts culture as it relates to anti-oppression, EDI, leadership, learning, and wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success as a people leader with experience gained in a large, complex, growth-oriented, multi-stakeholder environment such as non-profit, social services, healthcare or other related sectors. They will bring expertise in organizational leadership, HR policies and practices, and program administration, especially relating to anti-oppression and EDI. The CPIO will shape the employee experience, with a commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration. Through strong people skills, they are a proven relationship- and community-builder with the vision and strategic skills necessary to advance the work of CHV.

This is a gem of an opportunity to support the strategic leadership of a purpose-driven and values-focused organization that makes a difference in the lives of youth experiencing homelessness, and one of the most entrepreneurial not-for-profits in Canada.

In accordance with BC’s Pay Transparency Act, the position has an expected base salary range of $190,000 - $210,000.

We thank all applicants for their interest in this position. Please note that we will only be in contact with those individuals moving forward with our client.

A significant and sustained effort will be made to encourage candidates from equity-deserving groups and with lived experience of marginalization and oppression (including Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, LGBTQIA2S+ and persons with disabilities) to apply.

Applicants will not be discriminated against because of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, religion, national origin, citizenship status, disability, ancestry, marital status, veteran status, medical condition, or any other protected category.
