Description de poste

What is the Opportunity?

The Sr. Director, Nuclear Fabrication is the executive leader accountable for defining and delivering Aecon’s nuclear fabrication strategy and performance across Canada and the U.S. This role owns end-to-end fabrication capability—market positioning, business development, customer delivery, and the establishment/expansion of fabrication shops and programs required to meet current and future nuclear project needs. The Sr. Director builds high-performing teams, sets standardized execution systems, ensures nuclear-quality compliance, and leads customer relationships to deliver safe, high-quality, schedule-aligned fabrication outcomes at scale.

What You'll Do Here:

Enterprise Nuclear Fabrication Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute the nuclear fabrication strategy for Canada and the U.S., including capability roadmap, capacity planning, investment priorities, and long-range demand alignment with project portfolios.
  • Establish standardized operating models, governance, and performance expectations across all fabrication locations to ensure consistent delivery, predictability, and profitability.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align fabrication strategy with broader nuclear business plans, delivery commitments, and customer requirements.

Business Development & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead fabrication-related business development, including market targeting, customer engagement strategy, opportunity qualification, and pipeline conversion for nuclear fabrication scopes.
  • Provide executive oversight for estimating, costing strategies, risk/opportunity analysis, and proposal development for fabrication-led pursuits.
  • Represent fabrication capabilities in client meetings, project reviews, and industry forums; position Aecon as a trusted fabrication partner in regulated nuclear environments.

Fabrication Shops, Capability Build & Footprint Expansion

  • Lead the setup, expansion, and optimization of fabrication shops to meet nuclear demand (site strategy, equipment and tooling, staffing models, workflow design, and readiness milestones).
  • Establish scalable programs for production planning, quality documentation, welding/inspection readiness, materials control, and traceability aligned to nuclear requirements.
  • Drive facility readiness for current and future scopes, including resource planning, supply chain strategy, and interfaces with project/site execution teams for seamless handover and installation readiness.

Execution Excellence: Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost

  • Ensure fabrication work is planned, executed, and documented in compliance with nuclear quality programs, codes, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Champion an industry leading safety culture and ensure full implementation of Aecon Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs across fabrication operations.
  • Set performance systems for production efficiency, cost control, forecasting, and schedule adherence; lead recovery planning when fabrication performance deviates from plan.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence (e.g., Lean principles and the Building Smarter program) across fabrication shops and programs.
  • Lead innovation and drive technology advancements into the process to improve performance, lower costs and improve delivery timelines.

Nuclear Quality & Regulatory/Client Compliance

  • Ensure consistent application of quality standards, inspection/test planning, audit readiness, and corrective action management across all fabrication locations.
  • Provide executive oversight for resolving non-conformances, deviations, and technical issues with strong governance, root cause rigor, and prevention focus.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, regulators, and third-party inspectors as required during fabrication activities and audits.

Customer Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Own senior-level customer relationships for nuclear fabrication—performance, issue resolution, contract governance, and long-term partnership growth.
  • Serve as the executive escalation point for customer concerns and commitments; ensure communication is proactive, transparent, and solutions-oriented.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Project Management, Construction) to align fabrication outcomes with end-to-end project success.

Leadership, Organization Design & Talent Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing multi-site team (operations leaders, fabrication managers, engineering/technical leaders, quality leadership, and support functions).
  • Establish clear role accountability, performance expectations, succession plans, and development pathways; mentor leaders to strengthen nuclear fabrication capability.
  • Ensure training qualifications, certifications, and competency requirements are tracked and maintained for nuclear fabrication personnel.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management, or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Progressive senior leadership experience in fabrication/manufacturing/industrial construction, ideally within nuclear or similarly regulated high-compliance environments.
  • Demonstrated capability leading multi-site operations, building teams, setting operating systems, and delivering measurable performance improvements.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture, fabrication codes/standards, and quality systems (e.g., CSA / ASME / AWS as applicable to scope).
  • Proven executive-level stakeholder management skills with customers, regulators/inspectors, suppliers, and internal leadership.
