Our Hamilton Kent, Toronto Plant is seeking a Night Shift Production Supervisor. The shift is from Sunday to Thursday, 11 pm to 7 am.
This position is responsible for ensuring fabrication, injection, and compression molded parts are of the highest quality while using cost-effective methods to maximize productivity. It involves supervising fabrication, injection, and compression molding, verifying procedures, monitoring costs, and assisting the Maintenance Manager with purchasing spares. The role leads and coordinates production activities focused on continuous improvement, safety, product quality, output, housekeeping, and cost control to meet plant goals.
Principal Responsibilities
- Manage staff activities to meet daily quality and budget targets.
- Identify performance and quality issues and develop action plans.
- Provide performance metrics and communicate significant changes to management.
- Coordinate with lead hands to optimize production and review safety or quality concerns.
- Monitor daily production schedules, labor, raw materials, and machine utilization.
- Review performance with Plant Manager and other Supervisors, address variances, and ensure goals are met.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through schedule adherence.
- Implement and enforce safety, health, and environmental procedures.
- Plan operations to ensure all requirements are identified at least three days in advance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and support departmental efficiency.
- Oversee fabrication, extrusion, and molding departments, optimizing labor usage.
- Conduct surveys and participate in creating and implementing action plans in line with ISMS.
- Develop and enforce work instructions based on job task analyses, accident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate on machinery and tooling improvements to enhance safety and productivity.
- Participate in accident and quality investigations.
- Assign and monitor direct reports to meet production schedules, providing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure lead hands possess the necessary skills to meet company needs.
