Day in the life
What does a role as a Summer Student with Miller Maintenance look like? It is a role for someone who enjoys working outdoors in nature, likes to engage in physical activity and looks forward to the chance for every day to be a little different than the day before! Miller Maintenance provides highway maintenance for the Ministry of Transportation on provincial highways. What does this mean? We are responsible for everything along the highway from the fence line in and keeping the motoring public safe! This is a very crucial role because if we don’t do what we do then traffic can’t go anywhere! As a summer student you are providing support for our full-time crews and helping complete tasks ranging from traffic control for accidents on the highway, to cutting grass and weed whipping behind guiderails as well as inspecting culverts and installing signs along the highway.
You may also be tasked with repairing guiderail which helps keep motorists safe along the shoulder of the highway, you could be helping patch potholes in the driving surface of the highway as well as picking litter to keep our highways clean and looking great!
