Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Data Operations team is the backbone of data integrity at RBC Global Asset Management. The team creates and maintains securities, issuers, accounts, and benchmarks that power the systems supporting investment operations across the organization. This work enables Investment teams, Trade Operations, Fund Operations, Performance, and other stakeholders to execute trades, onboard clients, report performance, and advance GAM-wide strategic initiatives with confidence.

As a Data Management Analyst, you'll be a key contributor to the team's day-to-day operations, ensuring the accuracy and quality of data that flows through the business. This role offers significant growth potential for someone eager to develop their technical and analytical skills while building a strong foundation in asset management data operations. You'll work closely with experienced team members, contribute to process improvements, and have the opportunity to evolve into more senior responsibilities as you grow with the team.

What will you do?

  • Maintain and enrich RBC Global Asset Management's data warehouse, including security classification, analytics, and reference data across all investment groups
  • Perform data quality checks for core data and create securities on GAM's platforms with a high degree of accuracy
  • Work in conjunction with team members to ensure data standards are defined and enforced consistently
  • Collaborate with internal clients to identify, document, and source data requirements
  • Validate data, catch errors early, and escalate issues appropriately to prevent downstream impacts
  • Support short- to mid-term project implementations and contribute to team deliverables
  • Document business and technical processes to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity
  • Develop toolsets and methods to improve data quality and availability
  • Proactively seek opportunities to contribute beyond assigned tasks and support team objectives
  • Identify patterns, recurring issues, and suggest proactive solutions to improve workflows

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 1+ years of experience in asset management or investment management operations
  • Understanding of financial instruments (such as fixed income, equity, and derivative securities) and how data flows through the investment management business
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to validate data and ensure accuracy
  • Coachability & growth mindset: Receptive to feedback, eager to learn, and comfortable asking for help when needed
  • Ability to prioritize: Works effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with strong follow-through skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of SQL and/or Python
  • Data quality focus: Meticulous approach to validating data, catching errors early, and ensuring accuracy before work impacts downstream processes
  • Ownership mentality: Takes initiative, follows through consistently, and proactively seeks work beyond assigned tasks
  • Willingness to challenge: Constructively questions existing processes and suggests improvements to drive better outcomes
  • Team player: Supports colleagues, shares knowledge, and delivers consistent quality work
  • Emerging strategic thinking: Begins to identify patterns and recurring issues, and suggests proactive solutions
  • Experience working with business and/or technology stakeholders in an Enterprise environment • Creative problem-solver who can explore innovative solutions to operational challenges

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • Flexible work/life balance options
  • Opportunities to do challenging work
  • Opportunities to take on progressively greater accountabilities
  • Access to a variety of job opportunities across business and geographies

The expected salary range for the above position is $55,000 - $90,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.
