Position Description A temporary full time Speech Language Pathologist is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at Learning Services. We are dedicated to providing services that assist students to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge required to successfully participate in educational experiences. We provide indirect and direct service to the student and / or the school community. Our collective knowledge, skills, energy, creativity and empathy support and nurture this process. We love the relevance in our logo See for more information. Duties Providing SLP services to students from K-12, with a heavier focus on early years (K-3). Communicate and work collaboratively with other professionals including school-based teams and Learning Services staff Utilizing both formal and informal measures to evaluate a student's abilities in regards to speech, language and communication development. Communicate assessment results to parents / guardians and educators, involving them in decision making around supports Providing support(s) within the RTI tiered model which include classroom education and support, focused group intervention and individual therapies. Create goals for students and oversee implementation of intervention via Speech-Language Assistants and Educational Assistants. Assist in the creation and monitoring of IEP goals. Provide recommendations for and assist in set up and implementation of AAC system. Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting is maintained for student file Initiate referrals, when necessary, to other district staff, agencies and community professionals in collaboration with the school teams Other related tasks as required Qualifications and Experience Masters Degree in Speech / Language Pathology Eligibility for Speech-Language and Audiology Canada certificationor equivalent and College of Health & Care Professionals of BC membership This program and position are eligible for the BC Student Loan Forgiveness Program. Successful experience working with school age children, including children withAutism and developmental delays Ability to work successfully with school teams to provide interventions for students at the Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels of support Willingness to work in a collaborative environment to collectively design interventions for Speech and Language development Experience and knowledge in alternative and augmentative communication systems such as Touch chat, Proloquo2Go, Etc. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Valid BC driver's license and use of personal vehicle Ability to participate in meetings within and beyond the regular school day to support learning Ability to plan and facilitate in-services or collaboration sessions with educators and Educational Assistants within and beyond the regular school day Interested applicants are required to supply Three (3) references Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) Compensation $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas. $3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE) Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952 Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
