The Opportunity

The Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre in Cranbrook, BC, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Interim Kitchen Manager. This is a fixed-term contract position for 9 to 12 months to provide leadership and operational continuity for our culinary team during a leave of absence. An opportunity to get into a permanent role at our other locations is also available to candidates willing to relocate.

Who You Are

We are looking for a seasoned leader, but we also recognize rising talent. We invite applications from experienced Kitchen Managers as well as motivated Sous Chefs or supervisors who possess strong leadership skills and are looking for the next step in their career. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team and manage kitchen operations in a professional hotel and convention setting.

* Please note that the salary will be commensurate based on experience / education

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage kitchen staff to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Manage inventory, food costing, and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation protocols.
  • Collaborate with hotel management to ensure seamless service for both our restaurant and convention guests.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role (kitchen lead, sous chef, kitchen manager).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to step into an established team seamlessly.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Relevant culinary certifications and FoodSafe Level 1 & 2.
