About the role

Carrier is looking for a Senior Manager, Digital Software Developer, to lead a large team of experienced Software Development professionals or team leaders. In this role you will manage the overall software structure, core elements, and properties by understanding the software requirements, constraints, interfaces, and dependencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technical development, delivery, and maintenance of Carrier’s Shopify eCommerce sites and accelerator platform (OneCommerce) according to project requirements and best practices.
  • Manage and mentor a team of developers and quality assurance analysts, providing technical guidance and support, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and problem-solving.
  • Set technical expectations and KPIs for the team, ensuring alignment with project goals and compliance with established code quality, performance, and scalability standards.
  • Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of Carrier’s Shopify sites and accelerator platform (OneCommerce).
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of existing Shopify implementations to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements that improve user experience and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement innovative, effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, providing insights and recommendations based on expertise and experience.
  • Participate in and lead (as-needed) Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-up meetings, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand project goals and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across global business units, including IT, marketing, and external vendors, to deliver integrated solutions that will delight the customer and improve internal processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest eCommerce technologies, industry trends, and Shopify platform updates, new features, and best practices to drive innovation within the organization.

This is a current vacancy for which Carrier is currently hiring.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience as Lead Shopify Developer, and/or Team/ Tech Lead
  • 3 + years of experience building and leading development teams.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in Agile methodologies
  • 8+ years of experience in eCommerce solution development & deployment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with designing, building, and deploying complex custom B2B and B2C eCommerce sites leveraging Shopify Plus in an enterprise environment.
  • Extensive experience with integration platforms (APIs, middleware, or enterprise integration tools).
  • Proficiency developing and implementing custom themes and apps, with deep knowledge of Liquid, JavaScript, Node.js, ReactJS, NextJS, Hydrogen, and GraphQL and RESTful API integrations.
  • Experience integrating Shopify with third-party platforms (ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, payment processing solutions).
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, including responsive design, browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Experience developing & implementing commerce solutions working across multiple technology platforms such as Shopify Plus (preferred), Commercetools, BigCommerce, and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • The ability to simplify the complex, quickly define core problem and frame the solution approach
  • Experience working in a large, global manufacturing or industrial software segments.

Pay Range

The expected base salary range for this role is between $117,500 and $234,500. The rate of pay may be impacted by factors such as the applicant’s geographic location, market data/range, skills, prior relevant experience, job-related knowledge, specific degrees and certifications, and/or other relevant considerations.​

This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, etc., as well as possible RRSP matching.​

Other Compensation

This role may also provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may include company performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.
