Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG), a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., owns and operates natural gas processing, transmission and distribution systems in British Columbia’s lower Peace, west central, and north coast regions. PNG’s western transmission system extends from the Enbridge gas transmission system north of Prince George and along the Highway 16 corridor to Terrace and then onto the port communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert, providing gas transportation and service to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the Province’s northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd., a subsidiary of PNG, provides gas processing, transmission and distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations and Engineering, the Director of Asset Management and Project Delivery (“Director”) is accountable for the effective stewardship and lifecycle management of PNG’s natural gas pipeline and facility assets. This role provides leadership over asset management frameworks, project delivery assurance, and governance of technical and safety standards to support safe, reliable, environmentally responsible, and cost‑effective natural gas service across PNG’s west‑central and northeast British Columbia service areas. The Director oversees the planning, prioritization, and delivery of the capital project portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, asset integrity, and long‑term operational performance.

The Director will oversee and lead teams of engineers, project managers, and other subject matter professionals who report up to the Director via Managers of Asset Integrity, Engineering, and Project Delivery, setting strategic objectives, priorities, and driving alignment with PNG operations and across all of PNG.

In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of, and compliance to, multi-year budgets approved by PNG’s Executive for submission and approval by the BC Utilities Commission as part of PNG’s Revenue Requirement Applications. The Director will lead PNG’s asset risk management initiatives and be a critical leader in health, safety, security, environmental stewardship, quality, and employee wellness, and overall loss minimization.

What You Will Do:

  • Resourcing for, and leadership and management of, PNG’s technical and project delivery personnel with focused direction towards continuous improvement in safety, asset reliability, and annual plan compliance
  • Senior leadership of professional engineers conducting professional practice under the requirements of the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) and PNG’s Permit to Practice.
  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, developing, budgeting and executing major capital projects
  • Contributes to the development and delivery of annual and longer-term strategic plans and objectives.
  • Responsible for asset related management of change and the review and approval of new asset implementation.
  • Champion of engineering and asset maintenance standards and best practices maintenance
  • Provides senior leadership level relationship interface with the BC Energy Regulator (formerly BC Oil and Gas Commission
  • Provides PNG senior technical leadership level representation at industry forums and collaboration spaces with the Canadian Gas Association, TSU, and others.
  • Collaborates and interfaces closely with the Director, Operations & Customer Service, to provide clear, consistent, and aligned leadership of PNG’s operations, engineering, maintenance, and project teams.
  • Advances the company’s technical knowledge of energy transition concepts and leads the implementation of resultant applications.
  • Supports preparation and defense of regulatory filings.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Professional engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia, registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) and in good standing.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) considered an asset
  • Minimum 15 years proven experience and demonstrated success in progressive engineering and project delivery roles in similar regulated utilities and other natural resource or manufacturing industries, with experience spanning both integrated owner/operator and EPCM environments.
  • Minimum 10 years proven experience and demonstrated performance liaising with technical and other regulatory entities such as the BCER (formerly BC OGC), Technical Safety BC (TSBC), and the BC Utilities Commission preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in assembling, management, and senior leadership of engineering, asset integrity, and project delivery teams for both brownfield and greenfield based initiatives.
  • Expert technical knowledge and demonstrated ability to provide technical advice, direction, and senior leadership to various internal and external stakeholders, including executive teams and boards of directors.
  • Demonstrated experience in assembling and management of annual and longer term budgets, contracts, service agreements, associated capital, asset integrity, risk, and resource management plans, inclusive of contract strategy development and negotiation.
  • Experience leading teams toward an interdependent safety and accountability culture in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable technical, financial, and OHS standards and regulations, including specific experience with CSA Z662, the Oil and Gas Activities Act and associated regulations, the Utilities Commission Act and associated regulations, and the requirements for related permits and certificate applications and proceedings.
  • Proven business acumen with exemplary relationship building, team dynamics management, problem-solving and decision-making ability for the purposes of alignment and consistency.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a range of priorities in a fast paced, dynamic, high demand, and schedule driven environment.

Other Considerations / Additional Information:

  • Position will be based out of PNG’s Terrace, BC office with regular and frequent travel throughout PNG’s operations and service territory including Vancouver, Fort Saint John, and Dawson Creek, and PNG West operations ranging from Prince George to Prince Rupert. Alternate location maybe considered.
  • Current existing direct staff are located in both Terrace and Fort Saint John

Salary Range: $160,000 to $190,000 per annum (depending on background and experience)
